Windsurfing: Llanfairfechan Wind Direction: SSW Wind Stength: F6 & F7 Surf / Sea State: difficult chop Air Temperature: 17,2 Sea Temperature: 16,9 Weather: cloud then sun Max Speed: 24.8/2secs (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 14.5 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
After earier rain wind arrived as forecast on dropping tide. Tries new
Tabou 86l in trifin configuration as Gary recommended for Llan. Centre fin
is 18cm with 2 x 9cm thrusters. Lost grip sometimes which I think was as I
was overpowered in difficult chop. When sea smoothed at end board gripped
fine and during gybes. I was using 4.2m and compared to 76l single fin
board bounced more, as expected as 2.5cm wider and felt like it would not
sink so easily in lulls. OK speed wise, and probably 1-2 knots slower than
single fin but turns easier and sharper and with volume should carry
lighter winds easy. Got going easy but there again wind was very strong and
too gusty for anything more than 3*. Mid tide seems to be worst for chop in
Llan.
